Wairarapa
Wharekauhau Country Estate
Wharekauhau Country Estate is set on a 5,500-acre working sheep station on the Palliser Bay coast in the Wairarapa region, approximately 90 minutes from Wellington.
Accommodation comprises Cottage Suites set throughout the estate, together with a collection of private two- and three-bedroom villas and the five-bedroom Owner's Cottage, all positioned to take advantage of the property's coastal and rural setting.
The estate offers a range of experiences, from farm tours and coastal walks to wine tasting in nearby Martinborough.
Wellness is an important part of the Wharekauhau experience, with treatments and therapies inspired by New Zealand botanicals, Māori principles of wellbeing, and the property's coastal setting, creating opportunities for rest, restoration, and connection to place.
The main lodge offers a variety of intimate and elegant spaces, including our dining rooms, guest lounges, and library, each designed to reflect the heritage and character of the property.
The cuisine is rooted in a farm-to-table philosophy, with much of the produce grown on-site, complemented by carefully selected ingredients from local Wairarapa suppliers.
Guests can also enjoy access to walking trails, coastline, and a range of on-site experiences such as farm tours, ATV adventures, archery, clay shooting, and guided tastings.
A wellness barn offers a peaceful retreat, featuring a heated indoor salted pool, sauna, ice bath, hot tub, gym, and two spa treatment rooms.
